How to send email immediately ("mailto" links)

When I open Outlook through a "mailto" link, the New Message window comes up but the main Outlook window does not. That's okay except for the fact that when the user hits "Send" the message does not get delivered immediately. It stays in Outbox until the user opens Outlook to check their email, which could very well not happen until the next day!

We find this behavior confusing because we have a program that generates this kind of emails regularly (to send .PDF files to customers) and my users expect the messages to be sent immediately.

We're looking for a way to force Outlook to send the message even if the main window is offline, or alternatively force "mailto" links to open Outlook in full mode.

Hi SoulForj,

That's true and I'm looking for a way to make Outlook open in full mode when the New Message window comes up, so the message would always be processed when the user clicks send.

The fact that messages are not sent immediately when the main window is offline causes us confusion. I honestly can't see how people put up with it. I used Thunderbird and Windows Live Mail before and neither of them behaved like that.

Did you ever find a solution? It used to work on Outlook express as well, and I'd swear it used to work on Outlook 2010, and 2013, but now I cant get emails sent unless I open the main window.
